Young professionals are ambitious people who are eager to know whether they are going in the right direction. If they are faced with something they want to have feedback. Just graduated or just starting out: it does not matter. Coaching helps to gain insights and the feeling that you are on the right path. Awakening and insight are at the centre point here as well, just like stimulating the ‘self-directing competence’ and taking your own responsibility.
A special target group are the knowledge workers/expats (coaching in English).
The Netherlands is a colourful country in which everyone is confronted with a multi-cultural society, both at a personal and at a professional level. Inter-cultural aspects receive ever more attention and ever more inter-cultural competences are in demand. The cultural background of a person influences his or her thinking and acting in everyday life. Something obvious for one person is not self-evident for the other. Thereby culture is continuously shifting because of mutual communication.
At inter-cultural coaching the emphasis lies on the optimal functioning in working and living environments of both the working person and the partner. Intercultural coaching is custom-made work. Origin, culture, the context (the Netherlands, living environment, social connections, organisational culture, etc.) in which the person is located, wishes, needs, and opportunities play an important role. Problems related to the cultural background are of importance as well. Attention is paid to the differences, so that the transfer of life cultures becomes clear. Questions that might be addressed include: Which factors played a role at the choice of my career abroad? What are the similarities and differences, and how can my qualities anticipate on those? How can I work effectively and happily within my new environment? Which style of communication will I use? How do I find a correct balance between work and private life? How do I deal with stress?
For partners the emphasis lies on building up a new life in a new culture. It is important that they feel at home in the new living environment as soon as possible. Questions that can be asked here include: how do I build up a social network? How do I find a job? How do I deal with the culture shock and homesickness?
